This is a series of documents that illustrate how Odyssey of the Mind aligns to national and state standards.

The standards were derived from the recognized bodies that developed them. This presented an opportunity to go to original sources, but also a challenge. The disciplines did not organize their standards in the same way, hence some standards are K-12, some 5-12, etc. We elected to go with the most frequent organizational structure where possible: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12. In addition, wording was different (statements vs. questions, etc.), presenting a challenge in editing for consistency. Where necessary, words were minimally modified, e.g., for parts of speech, so as to maintain their integrity. Additionally, some of the fine arts standards included an "advanced" standard, or how to exceed the established standards; those are included as available.

We believe that this comprehensive document gives additional credibility to our belief in the educational soundness of Odyssey of the Mind.

How might you use this? School administrators need to support a decision to incorporate Odyssey into their programs by demonstrating its alignment to state and local standards.
