I'm a first time coach with a primary team. Are the guidelines slightly different for this age group? What types of things can we help the kids with in regards to the long term project (eg.cutting, attaching or manipulating materials)? I would appreciate any insight in working with this age group.

Also, I have some great practice sponataneous questions-are there certain formats that are more or less likely to be used for a primary team?

I have coached primary twice. It is amazing what they come up with and what they can do. The rules are not any different for Primary. You cut something, it is outside assistance. You can introduce them to materials and methods that are appropriate for their age. Paper and duct tape costumes are the norm.
